First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic presented on October 21, 2019, the wife of former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, Milica-Mila Pivnicki Mulroney, with the Knight of St. Sava Order of Diplomatic Pacifism.
Dacic said that the Serbian diaspora is an important resource for the development of Serbia, but also an irreplaceable bridge for cooperation with countries and peoples around the world.
He underlined that Milica certainly deserves this significant recognition and added that the Pivnicki family is an example of how the diaspora should treat their motherland.
Ever since she was Canada’s First Lady between 1984 and 1993 until today, she has remained the pride of Serbia because she knew how to preserve Serbian identity, religion, and language while contributing to the development of Serbian-Canadian relations, Dacic said.
Milica-Mila Pivnicki Mulroney expressed her gratitude and dedicated this high recognition to Knight of St. Sava Order of Diplomatic Pacifism to all the victims of the Serbian people of the past and to heroes of today who continue to fight for justice and survival.
