New modern plant for wastewater treatment was put in operation in Apatin Brewery on October 7. With this investment, worth around 11 million euros, Apatin Brewery celebrated 260 years of successful business. All wastewater from Apatin Brewery will be from now on discharged into waterways only after passing the treatment in this contemporary plant.

The opening ceremony of the new plant and the anniversary celebration were attended by Minister of economy, Goran Knezevic, Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection Branislav Nedimović, US Ambassador Kyle Randolph Scott, Canadian Ambassador Philip Pinnington and Mirjana Dončić-Beaton Executive Director of CANSEE Canadian Serbian Business Associations.

General Manager of Apatin brewery, Mr. Dragan Radivojevic, recalled the importance of the Brewery, one of the largest exporters in the country, but also emphasized the company’s permanent commitment to invest in environmental protection.

-We are opening the plant for waste water treatment by which we continue with the investments and doing the successful business, said Mr. Radivojević.

Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, Mr. Branislav Nedimović, pointed out that this is an important project in the field of environmental protection, recalling that Serbia awaits the opening of chapter 27, relating to the environmental protection.

Talks about chapter 27 as one of the most expensive ones, are becoming more frequent these days.The big investment of 11 million EUR and the wastewater treatment plant are an important part of the story that awaits us on the path of European integration – said Nedimović.
