The jubilee 10th International Conference on Mineral Resources in the Republic of Serbia: “A Driving Force for Economic Development” was held ONLINE on Tuesday – Wednesday, November 17-18, 2020 and gathered representatives of local, regional and world’s business and mining community. International conference addressed all important issues of the mining sector and focused on the significant contribution of the mineral resources to the development of the Serbian economy and region.
The conference also provided a perspective of world’s mining experience, especially in the period during and after the pandemic crisis, in the domain of sustainable mining, female leadership in mining, opportunities of mining projects in Serbia and region and best international practices. Report on the progress of the impact of mining on local societies and innovation in mining was presented by leading experts, investors and leading people of many important companies in the mining sector. The aim of this conference is to connect all of them with relevant governmental, financial and social stakeholders.
One of the main topics of the conference were: Geological and mining activities in Serbia concentrating on concerns and implementation, Mining perspectives and challenges during the COVID-19 crisis, The future of smart mining and innovations in equipment and technology, Global mining financial trends and issues, Women in mining, etc.
CANSEE Managing Director, Ms. Mirjana Doncic-Beaton, was one of the guest speakers on the first day of the conference within the panel: Geological & Mining Associations in Serbia. For the 6th consecutive year, CANSEE has been a proud patron and a great partner of the conference which gathered some of the best mining and geological experts. On that occasion, Ms. Doncic-Beaton emphasized the importance of the economic cooperation between Serbia and Canada and stated that CANSEE’s mission is to strengthen and improve bilateral trade relations and support Canada and Serbia in being even stronger economic partners.
The exchange of information and knowledge on current situation within mining projects in Serbia and the region, as well as future progress of mining industry created the general impression that mining is becoming a strong source of economic growth of Serbia.
