On October 1, 2025, the CANSEE Canadian Serbian Business Association, in cooperation with CMS Belgrade and the British-Serbian Chamber of Commerce (BSCC), organized an exclusive workshop titled “Upcoming Amendments to Labour Law – What to Expect and How to Prepare?”.
This interactive, by-invitation-only event brought together professionals eager to explore the upcoming changes in labour regulations and their impact on the business community.
The workshop was hosted at the elegant premises of CMS Belgrade at Krunska 73, where participants were welcomed with opening remarks and an overview of the importance of the announced legislative changes for employers, employees, and legal practitioners alike.
Ms. Mirjana Dončić-Beaton, Managing Director at the CANSEE Canadian Serbian Business Association, welcomed the guests, expressing her appreciation for their presence and emphasizing CANSEE’s dedication to creating platforms that address timely and relevant topics for the business community. She also highlighted the importance of joint efforts with CMS Belgrade and BSCC in supporting companies to prepare for the upcoming labour law reforms.

In her keynote presentation, Ms. Bajić provided an in-depth overview of the expected changes. These include the drafting of a new Labour Law, the first Law on Internship, as well as harmonization of domestic legislation with EU acquis through the EU Twinning project “Support to Improving Working Conditions and Preparing the Republic of Serbia for Participation in EURES”. The first amendments are anticipated to come into effect in the second half of 2027.
She guided the audience through the key questions:
- Which EU labour law rules will be implemented?
- How can companies best prepare for these changes?
- What do these reforms mean for the Serbian business community?
The session was followed by a dynamic discussion, offering practical insights for HR professionals, in-house lawyers, and company leaders on how to prepare their organizations for the upcoming reforms.
Following the workshop, participants enjoyed a networking cocktail in the beautiful premises of CMS Belgrade, providing an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences and perspectives on this crucial topic.
